Joint Estimation of Multipath Angles and Delays for Millimeter-Wave Cylindrical Arrays With Hybrid Front-Ends

Accurate channel parameter estimation is challenging for wideband millimeter-wave (mmWave) large-scale hybrid arrays, due to beam squint and much fewer radio frequency (RF) chains than antennas. This article presents a novel joint angle delay (JADE) approach mmWave fully-connected uniform cylindrical arrays. We first design new beamformer reduce the dimension of received signals on horizontal plane by exploiting convergence Bessel function, active beams in vertical direction through preselection. The important recurrence relationship needed subspace-based preserved, even with substantially RF Then, linear interpolation generalized reconstruct beamformer, so that can be coherently combined across whole band suppress squint. As result, efficient algorithm algorithms developed estimate angles delays multipath components. estimated are further matched correctly associated different paths presence non-negligible noises, putting forth perturbation operations. Simulations show proposed Cramér-Rao lower bound (CRLB) significantly computational complexity existing techniques.
